The Disaster Preparedness & Assistance committee exists to strengthen the disaster resilience of Wisconsin citizens and their communities by providing resources and support for disaster preparedness, including education and training opportunities for AIA Wisconsin members, assisting state and local government emergency management officials respond to disasters and assess the resulting damage to buildings, and help communities in the recovery of their built environment. A goal is to have 100 trained AIA Wisconsin members available to assist authorized emergency response team in assessing damage to buildings.

Committee co-chair Janine Glaeser, AIA, is a licensed architect currently working as an architect and urban planner for the City of Madison. She is also is a CAL OES Certified SAP Trainer. Glaeser has worked with various NGO’s on international post disaster recovery projects. She also works with university students doing international design projects for areas previously impacted by natural disasters.

Committee co-chair Stacey Z. Keller, AIA, is a Senior Project Architect at Mead & Hunt. She has worked with Wisconsin and Kansas Disaster assistance teams to best serve the community utilizing the expertise of local architects.
