Dane County Climate Action Plan

Transformational change is coming – are you ready to co-create a healthier, more prosperous future?

In April 2020 Dane County issued an ambitious and comprehensive economy-wide climate action plan (CAP). The CAP lays out strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from all sources by 50% by 2030 with the ultimate aim of net zero emissions by 2050.

Kathy Kuntz, Acting Director of the Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change, talks about the CAP and its implications for AIA members working in Dane County. County Executive Joe Parisi provides a review on the vision behind Dane County's efforts.

Learning Objectives:

• List the key climate change trends already confronting Dane County and be able to identify at least three ways the design community can address those trends.
• Become familiar with deep decarbonization as a climate action strategy and learn how it applies to emissions in Dane County.
• Identify at least five actionable design strategies for low emission homes and buildings that they can apply to their work.
• Recognize at least four programs or resources that will support their efforts in designing low-emission buildings.
